It’s now just under a year to go before we open the new Ancient Worlds galleries, so things are becoming just that bit more exciting. We’ve reached a crucial milestone in the development process, in that we’ve just signed off the detailed designs for the galleries (RIBA Stage E, for those who are interested). Opera’s designs for the showcases and other installations look great, and we’ve now got all the detailed work on architectural work, electrics, heating, and finishes, and we’re going out to tender for the work in December.
In the meantime, we’re working intensively on developing all of the audio-visuals and the web pages which will provide supplementary information, particularly via smartphones and tablet devices.
it’s all beginning to take shape, and I know that the next eleven and a bit months will rush by!
